Relief, rivers, lakes and climate of Zimbabwe:
Zimbabwe known in the past as South Rhodesia has a relief mostly composed by a plateau that raises in elevation from west to east and has some heights over 1.200 m. In the west part there is a mountainous area with Inyangani peak of 2.592 m height as the highest. The most important river, Zambezi, flows on the border with Zambia in north-west and forms the beautiful Victoria waterfall and thereupon is flowing into the great artificial Lake Kariba. Fauna and flora are very diverse and protected through large interest areas among the best known is Hwange National Park. The economy is based upon agriculture as the main activity and locals cultivate tobacco (leader in Africa for production), cotton, cereals, fruits and vegetables and grow domestic animals, upon mining (the most important resources are gold, nickel, asbestos, platinum, diamonds and timber), upon its well developed industries and more and more upon tourism.
