Relief, climate, economy and agriculture from Wallis and Futuna Islands:
Wallis and Futuna archipelago is an overseas territory of France and without its help, the inhabitants would have a more difficult life. The relief is volcanic, spectacular with enchanting landscapes and white fine sandy beaches. The maximum elevation is on the island of Futuna at 524 m height. The climate is tropical with medium temperatures between 26 and 30º C and rainfall is rich over 3.000 mm annually. Besides fishing, the most earnings in this archipelago come from France’s help or from the teenagers who are working abroad. Although under 10% of the territory can be cultivated and the rest is forested, the inhabitants practice the agriculture for their own living cultivating coco trees, bread trees, yams, taro, bananas, tropical fruits and vegetables and growing chicken, pigs and goats. After a period of British dominance, the islands are under France authority since 1959. Visit Wallis and Futuna Islands!
