Relief, rivers and climate from Ukraine:
Ukraine has a mostly plain relief, with low elevations and fertile lands, but in the south-west part there is a part of the Carpathian chain with the maximum elevation in Hoverla peak of 2.061 m height. Almost half of the surface is covered with forests of pine, oak and spruce. The country has many rivers among the most important are Dnieper, Donets, Dniester and Bug. Ukrainian climate is temperate-continental with Mediterranean influences in the southern part. The annual average of the temperature is between 5 and 12º C and the rainfall is between 500 and 1.200 mm annually according to the region.
Agriculture, resources, economy, cities and population:
Crimean Peninsula is in south and separates the two seas, the little Azov Sea from the Black Sea. Ukraine is very good in agriculture and natural resources, but especially mineral ones. It’s the world’s leader as about manganese and titan resources and the 3rd as about iron ore. The metallurgy is the most important domain of activity and brings important earnings to it. This country also has important resources of coal near Donetsk, but the oil and natural gas are imported. The country has big fertile lands where are cultivated cereals and because of this, was considered the crib of the Soviet Union.
Unfortunately because of the explosion of the nuclear central at Chernobyl, a big part of the cereals were affected and the soil remained radioactive.
