Relief, rivers and lakes from Uganda:
This is a prosper country going in a continuous recover after a civil war that affected the country in the last century. It has a varied relief with the Great Rift Valley in west and Ruwenzori Mountains with Margherita Peak on the border with its neighbor the Democratic Republic of Congo which is the highest point at 5.110 m height. In the central part is a fertile region transformed in a plateau in north and east. This state is among the fewest African countries that have numerous rivers and also some of the largest and most important lakes from whole Africa. (Find more journeys on blog.worldlifetimejourneys.com) Among these we remember Lake Victoria as Africa’s largest lake, Lake Edward and Lake Albert on the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo and Lake Kyoga in the center. So, fishing is one of the main activities in Uganda that brings important earnings.
Climate, agriculture and resources:
The climate is tropical hot and humid with the monsoons presence in the wet season and a rainfall that often passes 1.200 mm per year. Besides fishing, Ugandan people are working in agriculture cultivating coffee trees (more than two thirds of the exports), corn, millet, potatoes, cotton and sugar cane. The country doesn’t have too many subsoil resources, but the main resource is represented by the tropical forests which unfortunately are intense deforested. It was a British colony and obtained the independence from Great Britain at 09 October 1962. Visit Uganda!
