Relief and agriculture from Syria:

This country has a relief composed mostly from the Syrian Desert (more than a half of the country’s surface) and some mountains in the central and south-western parts. The highest peak of the country is Hermon with its 2.814 m height. The most fertile lands good for agriculture are situated in the western part and especially on the 200 km long coast at the Mediterranean Sea. A large part of the population cultivate here barley, wheat, tobacco, olive trees, vegetables, citrus, orchards, cotton and cereals, but they also grow sheep, goats, cattle and camels.

Climate, rivers, lakes, resources, industry, cities and population from Syria:

The Syrian climate is very hot and dry and the most important river is Euphrates which crosses the country from south-east to the north and forms Lake Asad. The country is very good in industry and resources with important reserves of oil and natural gas. (Find more journeys on blog.worldlifetimejourneys.com) Damascus the capital of the country and probably the oldest capital in the world and other important cities as Tartus, Aleppo, Homs or Latakia are huge industrial centers where the alimentary, chemical, textile and production of oil, glass and other materials are the most important industries. It has an old civilization mostly Arabian, but the most important minorities are those of Kurds and Armenians. The country obtained the independence at 28 September 1961. Unfortunately at the moment there is a major danger due to conflicts and war and we do not recommend to visit Syria!
