Relief, rivers, population, agriculture and resources from Sudan:
Sudan is a country that recently split due to the conflicts that existed in the last decades between northern and southern populations. It has a relief composed by the Libyan and Nubian Deserts in north and towards south, the relief becomes more fertile, covered in many areas by tropical forests that shelter a very complex and different fauna and flora. (Find more journeys on blog.worldlifetimejourneys.com) The Blue and White Niles Rivers, two of the most important Nile tributaries, cross the country from south to the north and close to capital Khartoum they connect and form the world’s longest river.
There are hundreds of tribes in the country, but the majority of population are Arabs who live in the rural area and work in agriculture. They cultivate cotton (the main product for export), cereals, but also some gummy plants the main resource for production of the Arabic gum (more than three quarters of the world’s production). The most important subsoil resource is the oil, but even like this, the standard of living is very low and the sanitary and teaching systems are precarious. The country obtained its independence from Egypt and Great Britain at 01 January 1956. Visit Sudan!
