South entry: follow the European road E85 (DN2) from Greece – Bulgaria – Giurgiu – Bucharest – Buzău – Focșani – Bacău – Roman – Fălticeni.

East entry: follow the European road E58 (DN29) from Ukraine – Moldova Republic – Iași – Târgu Frumos – Botoșani.

Suceava City has an International Airport called “Ștefan cel Mare” Suceava International Airport, but unfortunetely has only flights towards and from Bucharest. Tourists can anyway choose Iași International Airport (140 km) which has flights towards or from London, Rome, Torino, Bologna, Viena, Antalya and Heraklion.

When to go:

The best period to visit Suceava City is between April and September-October, when the weather is beautiful, with the lowest rainfall and with the most sunny days from the year. During summer can be recorded high temperatures over 28-30° C, while winters here are quite harsh. Most of tourists choose to come here during summer, despite the high temperatures, but avoiding the heavy traffic from the city.

Relief, climate, rivers and lakes from Suceava City:

Suceava City is situated in the central-east part of Bucovina‘s historic region, in a plateau relief area represented here by Sucevei Plateau, part of Moldavia’s Plateau. Situated at an average altitude of 325 m height, the area where the city is situated is breathtaking. Not far away from the Eastern Carpathians’s imposing peaks, Bucovina region of which the city belongs is very picturesque, offering gorgeous landscapes to the tourists. The area is fragmented by hills (Viei, Zamca, Manastirii and Tarinca Hills) and valleys.

The climate in Suceava City is temperate-continental of hill, with powerful influences coming from Siberia that can be felt during winter. Summers are hot, sometimes with lower temperatures than in other areas from Romania, while winters are cold and long. The annual average of the temperature is 8-9° C and the annual rainfall is 700-800 mm. Suceava City is crossed by Suceava River from Siret hydrographic basin and Dragomirna, Bulai, Moara Nica, Ipotesti and Bosanci Lakes are nearby.

Beginning with 1388, Suceava City was declared Moldova’s capital and on its territory were many wars, among the most important were those of Stefan cel Mare (Stephan the Great) against Ottomans. Today, far from the oppressive history of this city, tourists can admire the old center and historic buildings or the monuments that remained here since several hundred of years ago.
