Conflicts and relief of South Sudan:
This country was for many years in conflict with the northern population, but finally obtained the independence at 09 July 2011 after 6 years of standby. However, some conflicts still persist. The relief is composed by plains covered with tropical forests and arable lands. The only mountainous regions are in south-east where Kinyeti peak with its 3.187 m height represents the maximum elevation point.
Fauna and flora, climate, rivers and resources:
Many of the forested territories are declared national parks or natural reservations that shelter a large diversity of fauna and flora among are elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, giraffes, lions, wild boars, chimpanzees and other species of monkeys. The climate is subtropical with high temperatures. (Find more journeys on blog.worldlifetimejourneys.com) The country’s main river is the White Nile River that crosses the country from south to north and passes through the capital Juba. Unfortunately due to the conflicts when more than 2 million of South Sudanese died, the economy is down even if the country has many resources of oil, iron, copper, chrome, zinc, silver and gold, but also large arable lands. This is a new country in a process of development. Visit South Sudan!
