Relief, caves and fauna and flora of Slovenia:
Slovenia was part of the ex-Yugoslavia till 25 June 1991 when it obtained the independence. It has a mountainous relief in the western and northern parts, while the eastern part is formed by a calcareous platform which because of the rain, gave birth to one of the most beautiful caves in Europe like Postojna cave, almost 20 km in length. The highest peak is Triglav with 2.864 m height. More than a half of the country’ s territory is covered with forests which are home for groups of bears, wolves and catamounts.
Climate, population, agriculture and resources:
The Slovenian climate is Mediterranean on the coast, but continental in the other parts with warm summers and cold winters. The medium temperature in winter is between -2 and 2º C and in summer is between 20 and 25º C.
