Satu Mare City place’s history is long and interesting as well as its name, with long periods of foreign domination, being for a long time under Austro-Hungarian Empire rule. In 1247 it became the Hungarian king’s residence and later was occupied by Ottoman and Habsburg empires. In the last centuries the city was extended and many historic buildings were built which give today a gorgeous aspect to the city. By the beginning of the industry development and by the end of the 2nd World War, Satu Mare City’s modernization is more and more visible and today tourists can see how the history perfectly combines with the present.
