Relief, climate, fauna and flora of Rwanda:
Rwanda is a country with a mountainous relief with more than 90% of the surface covered by mountains and Karisimbi Peak in the Virunga Mountains from the north-west on the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo is the highest at 4.519 m height. The climate is tropical monsoon type with the presence of the dry and wet seasons, but due to the higher elevations the temperatures are a little lower. A good part of the country’s territory is covered with tropical forests and savannas that shelter many species of fauna and flora among are leopards, mountain gorillas, lions, rhinos, zebras, antelopes and others.
Population, agriculture, rivers and lakes:
Even if the relief is mountainous, the main activity of the predominantly rural population is the agriculture where many are working. (Find more journeys on blog.worldlifetimejourneys.com) The inhabitants, mostly Hutu and Tutsi in origins work in agriculture and cultivate coffee and tea trees, cereals, cotton and other plants for their own use. The country is crossed by many rivers and here are some dozens of lakes with the largest one, Lake Kivu in west. Unfortunately, like many other African countries, it was affected by a civil war at the end of the last century and the economy is trying to recover based more and more on tourism. The country obtained the independence from Belgium at 01 July 1962. Visit Rwanda!
