Relief, name and rivers of Paraguay:

Paraguay is a medium size country among the South American states, isolated and composed of two different parts of relief. Its name comes from the American Indians language Guarani meaning The water that goes to the water because Para means Ocean, Gua means towards and Y means Water. Gran Chaco Plain is in the western and northern parts of the country. It has no more than 200-300 m height and the population number is low, because most of this region has flooding problems when it rains too much. The eastern part of the country is a platform area Paranena where almost all the Paraguayan population is living. This platform is crossed by the main river Paraguay and by numerous influents of the better known river Parana. More than a half of country’s surface is covered by equatorial forests.

Agriculture and population:

The main activity for Paraguayans is the agriculture. They grow more than 10 million of cattle, but also sheep or horses. (Find more journeys on blog.worldlifetimejourneys.com) They cultivate sugar cane, wheat, cotton and banana, but the most part of them is not exported. Is a poor country with a rural population and besides agriculture, the locals are involved in forestry. The capital of the country and the main cultural and productive center is Asuncion, city founded by Spanish in 1537. The country obtained its independence in 14 Mai 1811. Visit Paraguay!
