How to get here:
By car:
Situated in the centre of capital Bucharest, in the 5th sector, the Palace of Parliament is very close to the junction of the European roads E60 from north, E81 from north-west, E70 from south-west and E85 from south. Because it’s a huge building, is situated on 3 streets: Izvor Street, 13 Septembre Way (Calea 13 Septembrie) and Liberty Avenue (Bulevardul Libertăţii). In front of the building is situated also Constituţiei Square where Unirii Avenue starts.
By train:
You can get in the Northern Station (the main train station of Bucharest) from every city or region of the country and even from Europe with one of the international trains. From here go by means of transport.
By means of transport:
You can get to the Palace of Parliament from the Northern train Station either by bus no. 123 till Pod Haşdeu bus station (Haşdeu Bridge) and then walk through Izvor Park, either by underground to Izvor Station and from there walking or by bus no. 385. From Henri Coandă International Airport you can get by bus no. 783 to Unirii Plaza and continue by bus no. 385 that gets you nearby the Palace of Parliament.

Palace of Parliament construction:
The Palace of Parliament in Bucharest is also known as Republic House or People’s House, name given before the 1989 Revolution. The construction of the huge building begun at 25 June 1984, during the communist dictate of the well known communist Nicolae Ceausescu at its orders. Surprising or not for some, the Palace of Parliament is the biggest, most expensive and heaviest administrative building in Europe according to World Records Academy. According to others is the second. Even like this, the huge building measuring 270 m long, 240 m wide and 86 m height, impress everyone with its greatness and beauty. For the construction of this building was necessary to be destroyed other buildings from the historical center of Bucharest including Văcăreşti Monastery, Republicii Stadium or National Archives Building at the order of Nicolae Ceausescu. It’s estimated that the price of the construction reached the impressive amount of 3 millions Euro, a huge amount due to the fact that Ceauşescu got help from the soldiers for the construction. The chief architect who managed the construction of the second administrative building in the world, was the young 28 years old lady Anca Petrescu. However, from the beginning of the construction and until the end she was helped by 700 architects and over 20.000 workers and soldiers.
Palace of Parliament rooms and levels:
The Palace of Parliament is composed from an impressive number of rooms (over 1000), of which almost half are offices (approximate 450), four restaurants, three libraries, a concert hall, two underground parking, all situated on 12 levels. In fact, the whole building has 18 levels of which 9 are on the surface and 9 in the underground. Among the most impressive and most important rooms are: the Human Rights Hall, Nicolae Bălcescu Hall, Nicolae Iorga Hall, Alexandru Ioan Cuza Hall, the Honor Gallery, the Official Entrance Hall, Ion C. Brătianu Hall, Tache Ionescu Hall, Union Hall or C. A. Rosetti Hall. All of them impress with the internal greatness and beauty, with the different styles and the gorgeous decorations which they are decorated with. Even if, it’s an administrative building, many of the rooms are really beautiful and the name Palace is for sure worth it, considerate by many people one of the most beautiful and richest in ornaments building from the world. Palace of Parliament tours:
For its visiting you need an organised tour, the first one leaving at 10 in the morning and the last one around 15.30 in the afternoon. The tour lasts approximately 45 minutes and during this time you will have the possibility to see many of these impressive rooms which for sure will fascinate you. Also, it’s important to know that visitors will have the possibility to see the balcony from where the communist Nicolae Ceausescu spoke to the people.
