When to go:
The best period for visiting Oradea City is in spring between March-May when the gardens, trees and plains come into blossom and the temperature is increasing and also in autumn between September-November when the trees give amazing colors to the city and the temperature is quite high to take a relaxing walk in a T-shirt. Sometimes summers are very hot, so if you choose to visit the city in this season, it is recommended to drink at least 2 l of water per day and avoid walking between 12.00 and 17.00.

Oradea City is situated in a plain (West Plain-Crișana Plain) and a downy relief area (West Hills-Oradea Hills) from the central part of Crișana region. The west part of Apuseni Mountains is very close to the city. Situated on an average of altitude of 150-200 m height, the climate is temperate-continental with positive temperatures for the most part of the year.
Here can be felt the influences from the Atlantic Ocean which bring humidity and winds (West Winds), with the annual average of rainfall around 600 mm. The annual average of the temperature is 10-11° C, with very hot summers and very short and mild winters. The main river that cross Oradea City is Crisul Repede (Fast) River and as a secondary river is Peta. Paleu, Saldabagiu, Sauaieu, Gepiu or Tileagd Lakes are close to the city and good for fishing.
History of Oradea:
Oradea is a city full of history and its heart and historical life is Oradea Citadel. Situated only 12 km away from Hungary, is a flourishing tourist city, with a rich history, which was also an important administrative center since Medieval Ages. In the city’s old center, rich in palaces, churches, cathedrals, monuments and statues, you can still feel the medieval air since thousands of years. In the past was known under the Latin name Varadinum, which was mentioned for the first time in 1113.
It was part from Austro-Hungarian Empire for more than one thousand years and the Hungarian influences can still be seen very well in the present, because many of the beautiful and historical buildings were built during Hungarian rule.
