Relief of Norway:
Norway is a very beautiful country at least geographically, because its relief is varied. The Scandinavian Alps very eroded in time cross the country from north to south and in the central part have a plateau aspect. The highest peak is the Galdhoppingen of 2.469 meters height. Most of the coasts are steep and dangerous, fragmented by many fjords of a rare beauty. The plains appear sometimes in the coast areas and in north and they represent the only areas suitable for agriculture or grazing.
Climate, rivers and lakes of Norway:
The climate is temperate cold with powerful ocean influences due to the country position toward the North Polar Circle, but the warm stream of the Gulf makes summers to be warm and winters often milder. However, to the North the climate is harsh and the long winters without sunlight last for 3-4 months per year. (Find more journeys on blog.worldlifetimejourneys.com) The most important rivers are Otra, Lagen, Klar, Tana and Glomma and the most important lakes are Kjosa, Hornindalsvasnet and Fermunden. Due to the forest areas, country’s flora and fauna are very rich.
Economy, industries, agriculture and population:
The biggest incomes for the Norwegian economy are coming from the timber industry, construction machinery and shipbuilding, from the chemical industries, fisheries, food and clothing products and increasingly from tourism which is more developed. The economy relies heavily on the resources of iron, zinc, copper, lead, nickel, aluminum, pyrite and oil. The agriculture is based on the domestic animals and on the crops of cereals and potatoes. The population is the Norwegian with the Sami minority representing the biggest minority and the capital and also the biggest city is Oslo situated in south-west. Visit Norway!
