Is a country with a relief almost completely covered by the southern part of the Sahara Desert and the only fertile area is on the Niger River valley which crosses the country for a short distance in south-west where is also situated Niger’s capital, Niamey. But, a large part of the population is living in south at the border with Nigeria. The highest peak is in the central part and is called Idoukal-en-Tagues with the height of 2.022 m. More than 90% of the population is working in agriculture even if the arable lands are limited. Resources and population in Niger:
The most of the locals grow domestic animals and some of them are working in the extraction of the main resources which are vital for the country ’s economy: uranium, gold, coal, salt, phosphates, tin and oil. The most part of the population, approximately a half is Hausa in origins and a quarter is composed by Djerma, but the rest is composed by other nationalities, among the best known are the nomad groups of the Tuaregs.
