Relief and climate of Namibia:
Namibia is an ex part of South Africa whom obtained the independence at 21 March 1990 and has a predominantly dry relief with the Namib Desert (a high desert that includes Namibia’s highest point in the Konigstein peak at 2.606 m height) occupying the entire west part at the Atlantic Ocean and the Kalahari Desert that occupies the east part. Between these two dry areas is a central region composed by a plateau with heights over 1.000 m. Because of the two deserts the climate is very dry with high temperatures.
Population, economy and resources:
Comparative with its surface, the population is very low and is diffused on the whole territory except the east part. (Find more journeys on blog.worldlifetimejourneys.com) Like many other African countries the territory is transformed in national parks and reservations among the best known is Etosha National Park. Namibia’s economy is based upon agriculture as the main activity, mining because it has important minerals and subsoil resources (uranium – world’s 4th producer, lead, tungsten, gold, tin, marble, manganese, copper and zinc) and more and more on tourism because the country is visited by more than 1 million tourists annually.
