Population and short history of Mongolia:

Mongolia is a country with big dimensions, but even like this, its population is small that makes it one of the countries with the lowest densities in the world with under 2 people per km². In the past, the Great Mongol Empire controlled large territories in Asia and was one of the most redoubtable empires in that time (approximate around the year of 1200). Today, the most part of the population lives modestly, in poverty, in the rural area, just few of them living in cities.

Relief, rivers, lakes, climate, agriculture and resources:

Mongolia’s relief is formed by the Gobi Desert in south which is very dry and in the central part there is a plateau region where is the majority of the population. The only mountains are Altai Mountains in west. The maximum elevation is the peak Navramdal Uul with 4.362 m height. Mongolia is crossed by few rivers but it has on its territories many large lakes like Ubsu Nur and Hovsgol. The climate is continental but mostly dry with huge differences of temperature between summer and winter and between day and night. The summers can be even chilly and the winters long and very cold, except the Gobi Desert.

The temperatures can drop drastically under 0º C till -30 or even -40º C. The annual media of the temperature is 0º C. (Find more journeys on blog.worldlifetimejourneys.com) The majority of the Mongolian people are involved in agriculture and especially taking care of the domestic animals they grow. It has many resources of iron, copper, plumb, coal and tungsten but even like this, the economy is low developed and the infrastructure is almost absent. The country obtained the independence at 11 July 1921. Vizitează Mongolia!
