Relief, population, climate, rivers, agriculture, economy and resources from Mali:
Mali is one of the oldest African states with no coast to a sea and with Sahara Desert covering the central, northern and eastern parts of the country. In south-west there is a more fertile region, a prosper one where is the most of the population, Bambara in origins (more than 40%) which is working in agriculture. The climate is hot, mostly dry and Niger River that crosses the country from east to the west is a real treasure. Due to this river the locals obtain the necessary electricity and many lands fortunately can be irrigated for the daily agriculture. (Find more journeys on blog.worldlifetimejourneys.com) The main cultures are the ones of millet, sorghum, corn, rice, cotton and nuts. The economy is also based upon the rich resources of iron, bauxite, oil, gold, nickel and copper. Besides the Niger River, in the west of the country there is a small segment from the Senegal River. The country obtained the independence from France at 20 June 1960. Visit Mali!
