Relief, rivers, lakes, climate and flora and fauna from Lithuania:
The country has a low elevation relief just like the other Baltic countries and its plains are crossed by dozens of rivers and among the longest one is Neman River with more than 900 km length. It also has thousands of lakes and in the western part at the sea, there is a beautiful lagoon, the Curonian lagoon, formed because of the isthmus with the same name which is 100 km long. The climate is continental with oceanic influences, with pleasant summers and cold winters. A third from the country’s surface is forested and here are living many species of flora and fauna like rabbits, foxes, elks, wolves, wild boars and others.
Tourism, agriculture and population:
The Lithuanians are very attentive with their territory which they protect through five National Parks and four natural reservations. It was a part of Poland and then of Russia and finally obtained the independence at 04 February 1991.
