Relief, population, agriculture and other aspects of Lesotho:

Lesotho is a small south-African country also called The Africa’s Roof due to the high elevation and depends of the partnership with South Africa since it obtained the independence from Great Britain at 04 October 1966. It has a mountainous relief composed by the Drakensberg Mountains with elevations that frequently pass 1.800 m and the highest point is the Thabana Ntlenyana peak with its 3.482 m height. Even if the relief is uneven with few fertile plain areas, more than 90% of the population is working in agriculture for their own living cultivating corn, manioc, sugar cane, wheat, beans, pea, barley, pulses and growing small flocks of cattle, sheep, goats and pigs for food. (Find more journeys on blog.worldlifetimejourneys.com) The medium life expectancy is under 55 years and the African enclave still remains an underdeveloped country despite the efforts made to improve its industries and especially the tourism.
