Resources, industry and agriculture in Iran:
This is one of the world’s richest countries due to its massive resources of oil and natural gas which bring the largest part of the earnings. It’s one of the world’s greatest exporters of oil and beside these industries, others are developed like chemical, textile, alimentary, metallurgical and engineering industries. The agriculture plays an important role in the Iranians life, even if just a small part of the territory can be cultivated. They cultivate cereals, sugar beet, sugar cane and cotton.
Relief, rivers and lakes:
Iranian relief is uneven, with a large part of the surface composed from the Iranian Plateau in center and desserts like Kevir and Lut desserts, but also mountains in north, west and south-west, among the best known are Zagros Mountains in west and south and Elburz Mountains in north giving the highest Iranian peak, Damavand with 5.604 m height. The country is crossed by many rivers like Karun River which is the most important and their valleys are good for agriculture. The largest lake is Urmia in the north-western part.
