Population, relief, rivers and climate:
India is one of the most beautiful countries in the world, which is very interested in tourism development and has some of the most beautiful and most important cities and tourist objectives and attractions in Asia and in the world. Speaking about a country with such a big surface and a population over 1 milliard of people going on increasing, a diverse relief is necessary. So, in the north part at the border with China is the young mountain chain of the well known Himalaya Mountains which imperially dispreads from west to east on a distance of more than 2.400 km with many peaks over the 7.000 m height. The highest peak of the country is Kanchenjunga with its 8.598 m height.
At the base of this massive is the Northern Plain, better known as Ganges’s Plain, the longest, most important and most saint Indian river. Together with the Brahmaputra River from east, it forms the largest and most fertile region of India. In the central and southern parts the relief is uneven, downy composed by the Deccan Plateau and to the west, the area is composed by the Thar Desert. The Indian climate is tropical with monsoons. It’s good to know about the two seasons, the wet one from June to October with heavy rains and winds and the dry one from November to May.
Fauna and flora, lakes and agriculture of India:
The temperatures and the rainfall are influenced by the presence of Himalaya Mountains and the Thar Desert. In a country so big with a luxurious vegetation and different areas of fauna and flora, there are many species, among the best known are the Asian lion, the Bengal tiger, the Indian bald eagle, the Indian rhino and many other species of birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians among of many are endemic.
Besides Ganges River of 2.500 km in length and the Brahmaputra River, there are many streams like Godavari and Krishma, but also many lakes like Gandhi and Hirakud lakes. In India almost two thirds of the population works in agriculture and they mostly cultivate plants as coffee trees, tea trees (world’s leader), cotton (on the 3rd place in the world), jute, sugar cane (on the 2nd place in the world), wheat, rice (on the 2nd place in the world), soya (on the 5th place in the world) and others.
Resources, industry and cities:
It has important resources of iron (on the 5th place in the world), coal, bauxite, diamonds, salt and others. The most important and most developed Indian industries are alimentary (the world’s greatest producer of sugar and butter), textile (one of the world’s greatest producers of confections), ironworking, engineering, computers and telecommunication and especially the movie industry, Bollywood from Bombay being on the 2nd place in the world after Hollywood from U.S.A. for the movie industry. Fishing is for Indians another main activity with tons of fish caught annually. There are also grown more than 220 millions of cattle and more than 100 millions of bulls and India is the 1st as number of these animals. Unfortunately with so many people, India has serious problems and many of the inhabitants are living in villages in poverty. The capital is New Delhi, but the best known and the largest Indian metropolis are Bombay with over 17 million people and Kolkata with over 14 million people. India has a mix of nationalities which speak dozens of languages.
Religion and other aspects about India:
Inhabited for a long time, India has a rich history and culture. The religions, also, are so diverse and most of the people are Hindu, but there are big communities of Muslims, Christians, Sikh or Buddhists. India is one of the world’s countries which practice a social system very strict that has thousands of social classes and the persons from a social class are not aloud to socialize or to marry persons from other social classes.
India obtained the independence at 15 August 1947 and became a Democrat Republic at 26 January 1950 and is also the largest Democracy in the world. Unfortunately the conflicts with its neighbor Pakistan existed for a long time and continue in the present for the ownership of the north-western territories where are Karakorum Mountains and one of the most beautiful and most picturesque regions in India.
