Relief, rivers, lakes and climate in Hungary:
Hungary is a state with a relief composed mostly by a huge plain (The Panonic Plain) but with few mountains in the northern part. The highest Hungarian point is Kekes peak with 1.015 m height. The most part of the territory is covered by pastures and arable lands. Danube, the 2nd longest river in Europe, split the country from north to south in two halves and Tisa River is the 2nd longest river situated in the eastern part. Balaton Lake is situated in the central western part of the country and represents the biggest fresh water lake from Central Europe. The climate in Hungary is continental temperate with the annual average of the temperature between 23 and 28º C in summer and between -7 and 0º C in winter and the rainfall is low. The summer is warm and the winter is cold.
Agriculture, industry and population:
The inhabitants are involved in agriculture cultivating vine, fruits and vegetables, but also cereals. The most important industries are the following: steel, cement and aluminium production, automotives and industrial machineries production industries and others. The actual population is composed by Magyars over 95%, the descendants of the previous tribes who came here approximately 1.000 years ago.
