Relief, climate, fauna and flora and agriculture of Guinea Bissau:
Guinea Bissau includes the Bijagos archipelago and other islands in the Atlantic Ocean and has a low elevation relief with a plain crossed by the Geba River which splits the country in two parts. The only mountainous area (approximately 300-400 m height) is in east towards the border with Guinea. The climate is tropical with two seasons, a dry one and a wet one with an high rainfall. Towards the ocean, the territory is covered with mangrove forests and tropical forests rich in fauna and flora. Economy, resources and population:
A part of the earnings comes from fishing, but the largest part from the export of the following resources: tin, bauxite, copper and oil. However, the country’s economy is one of the lowest in Africa. Approximately half of the population is Christian and the other is Muslim. The country is very bad in the teaching and sanitary systems, so the life expectancy barely pass over 40 years. It obtained the independence from Portugal at 10 September 1974. Visit Guinea Bissau!
