Relief, climate, fauna and flora:
The country has a coastline of more than 14.000 km in length and has thousands of islands and islets in the surrounding seas. The largest island is Crete and the well known Peloponnese peninsula is situated in southern Greece. The relief is varied with Pindus Mountains from south to north and the plain areas between their massives, but also with sunny shores. The highest point is Mount Olympus with its 2.917 m height. The climate is Mediterranean with hot summers and mild winters. The annual average of the temperature is between 10 and 15ºC in winter and between 28 and 32º C in summer. A great part of the country ’s territory is covered by forests, home for a rich fauna and flora with numerous species like bobcats, deer, brown bears, wild boars, lynxes, jackals and wild goats.
