Gorj County has a relief predominantly composed by mountains and plateaus. Capatanei, Godeanu, Valcan and Parang Mountains are covering the north part of the county while the Getic Subcarpathians and the Getic Plateau occupy the central and south parts with 600-800 meters height. The highest altitude from Gorj is in Parangu Mare peak of 2.518 meters height.
