Relief and climate from Georgia:
The country is part of the region between Europe and Asia called Caucasus name coming from the mountains that are in the north of the country at the border with Russian Federation. The relief is mostly mountainous and besides the Caucasus Mountains in north, in the south are the Lesser Caucasus Mountains. The highest peak is Shara with its 5.063 m height situated in the northern part. Between the two mountain chains there is a low elevation region, a valley good for agriculture formed by the main Georgian river, Kuna River. The Georgian climate is Mediterranean, with warm and pleasant summers and cold winters, but the temperatures and rainfall vary according to the elevation. The highest peaks from Caucasus Mountains are covered with ice and snow. More than a third of the country’s surface is covered with forests of beech, birch and oak, but also coniferous in the higher areas.
