Relief and climate of Gabon:
Gabon has a diverse relief composed by a coastal plain, hills and plateaus to the interior, but also a few mountains especially in the central-western part where is the highest point of the country, Iboundji peak with its 1.575 m height. The arable lands are few due to the fact that the most part of the territory is covered with tropical forests and the savannas are encountered in south. The climate is tropical with constant temperatures and a pretty high rainfall. (Find more journeys on blog.worldlifetimejourneys.com) A part of these forests are transformed in protected areas like the national parks and reservations to protect many species of plants and animals.
Population, agriculture, economy and resources:
The population is mostly Bantu in origins, but there are more than 40 ethnic groups. They work in agriculture for their own living, cultivating cereals and different fruits and vegetables. The population has a modest life, many of the families living in poverty, even if the economy is raising up based upon the rich resources of oil, manganese, iron, gold, uranium and timber. The tourism becomes a more and more important sector. The country obtained the independence from France at 17 August 1960. Visit Gabon!
