Lakes and relief of Finland:
Finland has the largest part of the territory flat, most of it forested and with thousands of lakes ( Is also known as the country of a thousand lakes). The seaside of the country is uneven and full of fjords and islands. The relief was modified in the past because of the glaciar era. Nearly a quarter of the country’s territory lies in the North Arctic Circle. In this part, called Lapland, the sun never sets for 73 days, shining 24 hours a day and because of that, the country is known also as the Midnight Sun’s Country.
Climate and industry:
Finland‘s climate is temperate, but to the north it becomes sub polar and then polar, because is very close to the North Pole. The temperatures drop from south to north, and the highest is over 20° C in the south during summer time. Summers are however cool and winters most of the times are frosty. The country doesn’t have important rivers but on its territory are over 180.000 lakes. Due to the fact that the country has large areas of forest, one of the main industries of the country, is the wood industry.
The country is a great wood exporter, approximately 30% of the amount charged from exports, all these resulting from the huge amount of wood export. (Find more journeys on blog.worldlifetimejourneys.com) The country has a shortage of coal and oil, but these are replaced by wood and peat. The metals processing industry and the civil constructions, fishing and more and more the tourism, bring important earnings to the country.
