Name and relief of Europe:
Europe is also known as the old continent and the name comes from the Greek words Eur that means Wide and Op that means Eye. It’s one of the oldest inhabited continents and in the past it was a single continent together with Asia called Eurasia. It has a complex relief ranging from the Alps in south, the Carpathian Mountains in the central-eastern part and the Balkan Mountains in the south-eastern part, till wide plains in the central-northern part and in eastern part of this continent.
Climate and countries:
The climate is diverse from Mediterranean in south, temperate-continental in the central part till a cold climate with forested and frozen areas in north. European continent is home for all the navigators and the conquerors of the world, the place where started all the journeys to populate large territories in America, Africa or Asia. Countries like Spain, France, Great Britain, Portugal or Netherlands had many territories in America, Africa or Asia in the past. Today, their descendants followed the language, culture and traditions of the past conquerors. (Find more journeys on blog.worldlifetimejourneys.com)
