Relief, climate, economy, agriculture and resources of Eritrea:
Eritrea has a relief composed by the Danakil Desert in south-east and the other half of the country is occupied by mountains and by narrow plain bands between these mountain chains. The highest point is Soira peak at 3.018 m height. It has a tropical climate and is often affected by drought and starvation and in the last century for more than 30 years was in war with Ethiopia when it was a part of it and finally obtained the independence at 29 May 1991. A big part of the country was destroyed and hundreds of thousands of innocent people died. (Find more journeys on blog.worldlifetimejourneys.com) After the independence, the economy began to progress based upon agriculture (the locals cultivate coffee trees, cereals, corn, cotton, tobacco, flax, citrus and palm trees), the resources of oil, copper, nickel, chrome and iron and upon fishing.
