Relief and climate:
The country is mooted for many years by Greece and Turkey and today continues to be split in the Greek part in south and the Turkish part in north. The island’s relief is composed by a large plain in the central-northern part and mountains at the northern coast and in south, Troodos Mountains with the highest peak from Cyprus, Olympos at 1.951 m height. The climate is Mediterranean with hot summers and mild and pleasant winters and the annual average of the temperature is around 21º C.
Agriculture, resources, population and tourism:
The inhabitants from Cyprus are involved in agriculture growing sheep, goats and pigs, in cultivating wheat, potatoes, vine, citrus, tobacco and in fishing. As about resources it has copper, iron, cement, brimstone and chrome. More than three quarters of the population is composed by Cypriots and the rest are Turks.
