The Comoros Islands is a volcanic archipelago with a mountainous relief that reaches the maximum elevation on the main island, Njazidja, in the active volcano La Kartala of 2.361 m height. Like the well known Madagascar, the main island of this archipelago where is the capital Moroni has also endemic species of plants and animals. The climate of this little African country is tropical with the hot rainy season between December and April when temperatures of 28 to 30º C register and with the dry cooler season between May and November when the medium temperatures are ranging between 18 and 20º Celsius.
