By car:
North entry: follow the National road DN21 from Brăila-Slobozia.
South entry: follow the National road DN3 from Constanța.
West entry: follow the National road DN3 from Bucharest and DN31 from Oltenița.
East entry: follow the National road DN3b from Ialomița County.
By train:
Călărași City is not so good regarding the railways. However, the main railways that cross Călărași are:
Fetești – Călărași
Brăila – Călărași
Slobozia – Călărași
Bucharest – Călărași
or Constanța – Călărași.
By plane:

When to go:
The best period to visit Călărași City is between March and October when the weather is hot and beautiful. Because it’s situated in a warm area of Romania with a mild climate, tourists can enjoy more sunny days per year. In spring and autumn the weather is perfect for visits, but during summer however can be pretty hot.

Calarasi City is situated in a low plain and meadow relief area at the intersection between the Southern Bărăgan Plain (Romanian Plain) and Borcei’s Channel from the Danube River. Situated in a meadow area, the city’s average elevation is 15 m height. The climate is temperate-continental with long and hot summers and short winters, but anyway cold. The annual average of the temperature is 11-12° C and the rainfall is 500 mm per year. Calarasi City is crossed by Danube River, the most important river of the country and Calarasi Lake is situated very close and is a good place for fishing and relaxation.
Fauna and flora of Calarasi City:
Calarasi City’s fauna and flora are represented by steppe (ground squirrels, badgers and hares), forest (foxes, wild boars, ferrets) and aquatic fauna respective steppe, swamp and forest vegetation. Very common are the water loving birds like bustards, partridges but also others like quails, larks and starlings. Calarasi City is an important port on the Danube River and tourists can cross the river by boat in Constanta County or they can go on cruises to enjoy the landscape.

From tourist point of view, Calarasi County’s capital is in course of development. One of the most important tourist areas here is Danube’s passing point, Chiciu-Ostrov, where you can go fishing, play water sports and go on leisure cruises. Borcea Channel about 100 km long, detached from Danube River is used for leisure by tourists and locals.
