Relief, agriculture, rivers, resources, economy and population from Burkina Faso:
This country has the northern part covered by the Sahel region from Sahara Desert, a very dry area with a low rainfall and high temperatures. The center and south parts are covered by a relief of plains and arable lands and hills with tropical forests in west. The drought created many problems to the locals during the years because the main activity is the agriculture and the irrigations are necessary. The water used for agriculture is collected from the rain in the wet season and from the Black Volta and the White Volta Rivers that cross this African country. (Find more journeys on blog.worldlifetimejourneys.com) The locals cultivate rice, sorghum, millet, corn, peanuts and cotton and grow goats, sheep and cattle for food. Burkina Faso is one of the poorest African countries and its resources of nickel, manganese, plumb and phosphates proved to be insufficient to raise the economy. The population mostly Mossi in origins has a life expectancy of less than 50 years and a mostly young population under 25 years old. The country obtained the independence from France at 05 August 1960. Visit Burkina Faso!
