Relief, lakes, rivers and forests of Belarus:

Belorusssia is a country with a relief formed by plains in the north part and moorlands in south where are the Pripet’s Moorlands. The central part is crossed by a low elevation chain of mountains. It has more than 10.000 lakes and many rivers and the most important are Neman, Pripet and Dnieper. Almost a half of the country’s surface is forested and the most important is Belovezhskaya (Bialowieza) Forest which is the largest natural reservation in Europe, home for the aurochs a specie in process of disappearing. Unfortunately, the country suffered because of the two World Wars when millions of Belarusians died and also because of the nuclear explosion from Chernobyl which brought many negative consequences, the radiation affecting the soil and population even today.

Economy, industries and population:

The inhabitants are involved in agriculture, but because the country doesn’t have too many mineral and natural resources, the economy is for many years passing through a very bad period. (Find more journeys on blog.worldlifetimejourneys.com). The most important industries are the engineering, the production of electrics and electronics and the production of the agricultural machinery. More than 80% of the population are Belarussians, but there are also Russians, Polish and Ukrainians. The largest city and also the capital is Minsk, which is also the largest industrial area of the country. Visit Belarus!
