The best period for visiting Bacau City is between April-May and September-October, the climate being cooler out of these months. Summers can be hot but this period is good for visiting, as long as you avoid walking from noon until afternoon.

Bacau City is situated in the central part of the historic region Moldova, on the Siret Valley near to its confluence with Bistrita River. The major units of relief which separate the city are: Moldavian Sub Carpathians in the west part and Moldavian Plateau (Tutovei’s Hills) in the east part. Bacau City‘s climate is temperate-continental with influences coming from Siberia, which makes winters to be cold and long. On the other hand, summers are hot which makes the differences between summer and winter to be very big. In summer the temperatures can exceed 30-35° C and in winters can drop under -15° C. The main rivers that cross Bacau City are Siret and Bistrita. Some lakes are close to the city (Garleni, Lilieci, Bacau, Galbeni, Racaciuni) and considered protected natural areas, among some of them are reservoirs.
