Relief, climate, rivers and lakes:
Botosani City is situated in a depression relief area between Suceava’s Plateau in west and Moldavian Plain in east, with an average altitude of 170-200 m height. The city’s climate is temperate-continental with powerful influences coming from Siberia for several months a year. These influences make summers to be shorter and sometimes cooler and winters to be long and cold. The annual average of the temperature is 8-9° C, lower than in other areas of the country due to Siberian influences. The main rivers which cross the city are Sitna and its tributary, Dresleuca. There are also some fishing lakes in the surroundings (Catamaresti, Rai, Lebada, Stauceni sau Parlogeanu Lakes).
Fauna and flora, importance and tourist objectives and attractions from Botosani City:
Botosani City‘s area is rich in agricultural lands and deciduous forests (beech and sessile oak) which shelter mammals like deer, rabbits, wild boars and foxes. Even if, during many centuries the city was an important economical center in Moldavia area, starting the 19th century, due to the changes made to the commercial routes, Botosani City became an economical center of local interest, so the economy dropped very much. However, it’s one of Romania‘s historical cities, with a beautiful historical center and the city developed a lot after 1960.
Most of its inhabitants work in agriculture and they are orthodox in religion. Touristically, Botosani City is a perfect starting point for if you want to visit Moldova’s north region.
