Relief, climate, agriculture, population, resources and activities in Togo:

Togo has a length of about 500 km and a relief composed by hills and low elevation mountains. The climate is tropical with high temperatures and a rich rainfall. A large part of the land is used in agriculture where two thirds of the population is working. The locals cultivate plants like manioc, yams, sorghum, corn, bananas and rice. Among the resources that rise up the economy are the phosphates, iron, magnesium and the main industry is the mining industry. (Find more journeys on blog.worldlifetimejourneys.com) The capital and the largest port is Lomé situated at the Guinea Gulf in south. Unfortunately, this African country is also affected by conflicts between the south population Ewe and the north one Kabye. Fishing is an important domain of activity, but tourism is very low developed. The country obtained the independence from France at 27 April 1960. Visit Togo!
