Relief, resources, name and population of Tajikistan:

Tajikistan is a country with a mountainous relief of more than 90% and the only fertile area is in the south-west part of the country. Alai Mountains occupy the north and western parts while Pamir Plateau occupies the central, southern and eastern parts. The highest point is peak Ismail Samani at 7.495 m height. Many of Tajik peaks pass over the height of 3.500 m. It’s a country rich in resources of aluminium, mercury, silver, gold and uranium. The name of this country comes from the Iranian people who are speaking the Persian language and are called Tajik. (Find more journeys on blog.worldlifetimejourneys.com) They live in cities in the western and north-western parts. There are other important nationalities of Uzbeks (approximate a quarter of the total population) and Russians. The country obtained the independence at 09 September 1991 and after that, a 5 years long Civil War seriously affected the economy, making that the most part of the population to live in poverty. Visit Tajikistan!
