Relief, agriculture, climate, cities and population:

Slovakia doesn’t have a coast to a sea and is the 2nd country formed after Czechoslovakia dissolved in 01 January 1993. It has a mountainous relief with few plains in south where are some arable lands cultivated with corn, rice and potatoes. The highest mountains are Tatra Mountains, a part of the Carpathian chain and the maximum elevation it’s also the highest peak of the country, Gerlachovka peak with 2.655 m height, situated in north at the border with Poland. The climate is temperate-continental with warm summers and cold winters. The largest city is the capital Bratislava and other important cities are Kosice, Nitra and Zilina. The population is composed by Slovaks more than 85-90% and the rest are Magyars and other nationalities. Magyars represent an important number of the population because between the 16th and 18th centuries, Bratislava was the capital of the Magyar Kingdom.

Resources and industries from Slovakia:

The electricity is produced with the help of Slovakia’s rivers and the resources of coal, copper, iron and plumb bring important earnings. Unfortunately the pollution is a real problem in this country and the whole environment of the country was affected.
