This is a small country with a mountainous relief and a long and fertile coastal plain, was for more than 15 years affected by a civil war that ended in 1990. The capital Beirut is the largest city and concentrates almost three quarters of the entire population formed by Lebanese. The highest peak of the country is Qurnet es Sawda in the north with 3.088 m height and the most important river is Leontes almost 150 km in length. The climate in this country is Mediterranean with warm, even hot and dry summers, but the winters are mild and also rich in rainfall. (Find more journeys on blog.worldlifetimejourneys.com) For the agriculture to work properly there are necessary some irrigation systems, that help the inhabitants to cultivate cereals, corn, vegetables and orchards. The tourism is probably the most important domain here and it’s in a continuously development and renovation. The country obtained the independence at 22 November 1943. Visit Lebanon!
