Relief from Kazakhstan:

This is a country with a low population comparative with its huge surface and the relief is diverse. In the northern and central parts is the Kazakhstan Plateau and a little to the west is the Kazakh Steppe and the Pre Caspian Plain and to the south-west close to the Caspian Sea is Ustiuri Plateau. (Find more journeys on blog.worldlifetimejourneys.com) In south there is a desert and semi desert area and in east are the Altai Mountains and Tian Shan Mountains with the highest peak Khan Tangiri at 6.995 m height.

Climate, rivers, lakes, population, resources, cities and industry:

The Kazakh climate is warm and dry, temperate-continental in some places, with a generally low rainfall under 300-400 mm annually and this grows over 1.000 mm in the mountains. The most important rivers are Irtysh, Ural and Syr Darya and the largest lakes used for irrigation are Aral, Balkhash, Alako, Zaysan and Tenghiz. Almost a half of the population is composed by Kazakhs, a third by Russians and the rests are Ukrainians, Tatars, Uzbeks and other nationalities. Fortunately the country’ s economy is good due to its important resources of plumb, zinc, chrome, tungsten, copper, manganese, iron, coal, nickel, oil and natural gas. Unfortunately, on the other hand the country is not good at agriculture. The largest cities are the capital Astana, the ex-capital Alma Ata, Shymkent, Taraz, Kostanay and Oskemen. The main industries are alimentary, metallurgical and engineering. The country obtained the independency at 16 December 1991. Visit Kazakhstan!
