Relief, rivers and climate in Ireland:

Ireland like Great Britain it was in the past connected with the continent. Its relief includes an interior plain, surrounded along the shore by a plateau area. The mountains with low elevations appear in the west area with the maximum altitude in the Carrauntoohil peak of 1.041 meters height. The main river of the country is the Shannon River, with a total length of 372 km. The climate is moderate, oceanic which makes winters to be milder, but very rainy and summers cool. In about two days of three, it rains during the year. Most of the country’s shores are composed by cliffs and some of them can reach 200 meters height like the Moher cliff from the west part.

Agriculture, industry and tourism:

From the total labor force, 7% are working in agriculture and the highest productions are those of sugar-beet and potatoes. The electronics industry and the computer one occupy an important place in the economy of the country. (Find more journeys on blog.worldlifetimejourneys.com) Areas in which peat is extracted to be used as a fuel, occupy 10% of the country’s  territory. In the last years tourism has seen a spectacular growth, because the country is visited by approximately 5-6 millions tourists yearly for the beauty of the capital, the scenic areas and the delightful landscapes. It obtained the independence on 21st January 1919. Visit Ireland!
