Relief, rivers and lakes of Ethiopia:

Ethiopia is one of the oldest occupied territories from Africa and has a very diversified relief. The mountains predominate in the west and north parts with the peak Ras Dashen of 4.620 m height representing the maximum elevation point. A desert area is situated in the north-east part, while the plain areas appear in east and south-east and a little in west at the border with South Sudan and Sudan. The central part of the country where is the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, is dominated by the Ethiopian Plateau. Ethiopia is rich in waters comparative with many other African countries because many of the eastern African rivers among the Blue Nile have their springs in these mountains from East Africa. (Find more journeys on blog.worldlifetimejourneys.com) The largest lake, Lake Tana is situated in north-west and is one of the largest African lakes.

Climate, population, agriculture and resources:

The Ethiopian climate is very hot in east with temperatures that often pass 50º C, while in the mountains is much colder and the rainfall is higher. Ethiopia is a multi ethnic country, whose population is living in the rural area working in agriculture (it is among the world’s first producers of coffee) and in extraction of gold, tantalum, marble, potassium, iron and natural gas resources. The main religion is Christianity and very important is the fact that this country is among the fewest African countries that were not colonized by the Europeans. Visit Ethiopia!
