Relief, location, rivers, climate and flora:

Czech Republic is one of the two countries formed by the split of Czechoslovakia at 01 January 1993. It has a relief mostly formed by a platform (The Massive of Bohemia) and by plain, with few mountains in the northern part. The maximum height is Snezka peak at 1.602 m height situated at the border with Poland in north. The country is situated approximately at the same distance from the Baltic Sea in north (326 km) and the Adriatic Sea in south (322 km).

The country is split in the eastern part called Moravia and the western part called Bohemia. The most important rivers are Vltava, Morava and Elba. The climate is continental-temperate and humid, with hot summers and cold winters, often even snow. Winters are cold especially because of the winds from Siberia which decrease the temperatures below 0º C. This is a forested country with spruce, pine and beech forests. The agriculture plays an important role in Czechs life.

Name, resources, industry, capital Prague and cities:

Czech Republic is also known as Bohemia, coming from the Latin word Boiohaemum meaning The bullock’s country. The name Czech comes from the word Cechy which is actually the Bohemian territory. Czech Republic is an industrialized country with important resources of coal, copper, plumb and zinc. Since Czechoslovakia split, in the last decades, Czech industries suffered different modernization works. (Find more journeys on blog.worldlifetimejourneys.com) The biggest Czech industry is that of engineering, then alimentary, electronic, chemical, rubber industries and others. Germany is the best partner of Czech Republic with the most imports and exports between the two.
