North-West entry: follow the National road DN10 from Brașov.

South-East entry: follow the National road DN2b from Brăila.

When to go:

The best period for visiting Buzău City is between April and October when the weather is beautiful most of the days. Although in spring and autumn can be many rainy days, the weather is nice and just good for walks and different visits. Summer is pretty hot, but the traffic is quite low and is the favorite season for most of the tourists.

Relief, climate, rivers and lakes:

Buzau City is situated in a low downy area between two totally different major relief areas. In the north-west part are the Eastern Carpathians and more exactly Curburii Sub Carpathians and in the south-east part is the Romanian Plain with a higher area represented by the Sub Carpathian Hills. City’s medium elevation is around 100 m height. The climate is temperate-continental with cold influences during winter, coming from Moldova. The annual average of the temperature is 9-10° C and the rainfall is 500 mm per year. Buzau City is crossed by Buzau River and Marghiloman and Tineretului (Youth) Lakes are situated on its territory and represent relaxation and leisure areas.

Flora and fauna, importance and economy from Buzau City:

This city’s flora and fauna are quite poor in species and in the west part of Buzau City there is an extended deciduous forest that shelters several species of animals, but the most common are those species adapted to urban life. This city was an important historical centre in the past, especially in the Middle Ages when it was an important market and an Episcopal Orthodox  Center. Periodically the economy in this area developed more and more based upon commerce and agriculture and the last centuries are known to be the best period especially because tourism developed very much.

Although is only the 18th largest city in Romania, Buzau is the capital of the county with the same name and began to develop touristically in the last decades, especially after the Communism fall, even if there is still a lot to do regarding to this. Buzau City’s main attractions are the old, historic center, Crang Park and the Communal Palace built between 1899 and 1903.
