Relief, rivers and climate from Bulgaria:

Bulgaria is a country with a mountainous relief in the central part where are the Balkan Mountains and in the southern part where are the Rhodope Mountains. Between these two groups of mountains are low elevation areas like the Thracian Plain in center and the Danube Plain in north at the border with Romania. The highest peak of the country and also of the Balkan Peninsula is Musala peak with 2.925 m height. The most important Bulgarian rivers are Iskar, Struma and Maritsa. The climate is temperate-continental with influences from the Mediterranean Sea. Summers can sometimes be very hot with an annual media of 28 to 30º C and winters can be cold, the temperatures varying according to the region and elevation.

Economy, fauna and flora and population:

In the past, the country was part of the Ottoman Empire, obtaining the independence from it at 22 September 1908. The greatest Bulgarian earnings come from tourism, agriculture and industry. More than a third of the country’s surface is covered with forests where is a rich fauna and flora and survive groups of wolves, bears, stags, deer, bobcats, jackals, lynx, the field Aquila and more in the plain areas. (Find more journeys on blog.worldlifetimejourneys.com) The majority of the population are Bulgarians and a small part is composed from Turks with more than three quarters living in cities. The largest one is the capital Sofia, but cities like Plovdiv, Varna or Burgas are important. Visit Bulgaria!
