Relief, climate, rivers and lakes from Brasov County:

Brasov County has a mountainous relief with Fagaras and Brasov Depressions in the central part and with Prahova valley of a rare beauty to the south part. Fagaras, Bucegi, Piatra Craiului, Intorsura Buzaului and Ciucas Mountains occupy most of the territory. The highest elevation is in Vistea Mare peak of 2.527 m height. Braşov County‘s climate is temperate-continental of transition with cool summers and frostier winters because of the high altitude. The annual average of the temperature is around 7º C and the rainfall is generally high. The most important river with its basin and tributaries is the Olt River and the most important lakes are the glacier Urlea and Podragul Lakes, but there are also many reservoir lakes.

Flora and fauna, tourist objectives and attractions:

The flora and fauna from Brasov County are very important. The forests of spruce, fir and pine cover a large part, but in depressions they mix with the forests of beech, holm and oak. Many of these are virgin forests and shelter mammals like brown bears, chamoises, harts, wild boars, lynxes, wolves and birds like storks, grouses, eagles, partridges or common buzzards.
